Athletic Republic’s certified performance trainers have the passion and sports-science knowledge to safely improve your athleticism. Our more than 500 performance trainers are constantly furthering our proven methods to help athletes reach their goals.  Because we believe developing athletes is best done in small groups, we provide a trainer to athlete ratio of 1:6.  This allows the trainer to customize a program for each athlete’s individual strengths and weaknesses.
Owner and President
AR Level 3 Certified

Jason attended Ithaca College with a degree in Clinical Exercise Science focusing on training athletes form and function in all sports. After graduating at Ithaca in 09', Jason had an internship at one the well known Athletes' Performance in Gulf Breeze, FL. Not only did Jason get to work with various professional strength/conditioning coaches, he also worked with NFL, MLB, Semi-Pro Basketball, Tactical and top Division 1 college athletes. He was also gained knowledge through the rehabbing process of training as the facility was connected to the renowned Dr. Andrews institute. After finishing up his internship, Jason played an integral role over at BlueStreak Sports Training, an Athletic Republic affiliate in Stamford, Connecticut. He worked with all athletes especially the Fairfield Country girls lacrosse teams, focusing on improving their running form/technique, speed skills, and had a huge emphasis in ACL prevention within the athletes. Jason has been the director of training at Athletic Republic Norwood for 6 years and took over as the President and owner April 1st, 2016. He has worked with over 3,000 athletes in Massachusetts since.
Karianne Smith
Mini-Athletes Director / Trainer

Karianne serves as the Director of the Mini Athletes program, and helps build and manage the operations of Athletic Republic. Karianne oversees day to day operations, teaches classes, personal training, and management of staff.  She has been with the company since 2011. Karianne was a tri sport varsity athlete in high school excelling in field hockey, swimming, and softball.  In 2005, she received a B.S in Recreation Management from the University of New Hampshire.  Her love for sports and passion for teaching makes her excel with our Mini Athletes and Junior programs.  Karianne is an ACE certified personal trainer and has done personal training with adults since 2009.  Karianne continues to compete in half and full marathons. In her free time, Karianne also enjoys hiking, skiing, running, and traveling with her husband and friends.
David Monahan, CSCS
Sports Performance Coach & Hockey Trainer
AR Level 3 Certified

David was a multi sport athlete in high school excelling in hockey and football. In 2002 David received a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from UMASS/Lowell. Having minored in Nutrition and Clinical Lab Science, he also worked as a Student Athletic Trainer at the University rehabilitating and conditioning collegiate athletes. Working at the Dexter Hockey Camp for 9 years he coached athletes from the ages of 6 to thirteen years old as an On-ice Coach and the Off-ice Director until 2003. David is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has been an Assistant Ice Hockey Coach and the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Brookline High School from 2001-2003 and Walpole High School from 2005-2009. David also has worked at the Boston Sports Club as a Personal Trainer from 2003-2009.
Mike Duran
Sports Performance Coach & AR-Fit Trainer

Mike graduated from Bridgewater State University in May 2014 with a degree in Exercise Science. Mike interned at Athletic Republic in the summer 2014 and was hired after proving his hard work and passion to train athletes. As a four year football player at Bridgewater he received two awards; 1st Team All-conference Offensive Lineman for Division 3, and 2nd Team Division 3 North All-Star for offensive line. Mike has worked football and speed and agility camps since 2011.
Pat Hagerty
Sports Performance Coach
AR Level 2 Certified

Pat Hagerty started as an intern with Athletic Republic during the summer of 2015 and has been a Performance Coach since. He was a 4 year varsity football athlete at Xaverian Brothers HS in MA and 2 time Gold medalist in the USAPL while attending. After HS he played 3 years of collegiate football at Western New England University in Spring MA. Pat is currently finishing his Exercise Science degree at Bridgewater State.

Michelle Lounsbury, NASM-PES
AR-Fit Director, Strength Coach

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maine in Orono, as well as a Master of Education from Springfield College, with a concentrating on Strength and Conditioning. Michelle is a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through NASM. After graduate school she worked for Mike Boyle for several years training professional athletes from the NHL, AHL, NFL, and NLL, as well as college, high school and youth athletes. After leaving Boyle, she worked for five years as Group Exercise Manager at the Boston Athletic Club, where she taught classes and excelled as a personal trainer. Following relocation to Maine, Michelle worked for two years as the strength and conditioning coach at Fryeburg Academy, a private high school. 

Rob Florentino
Sports Performance Coach & Hockey Trainer

Rob played hockey at Catholic Memorial for 3 years before transferring to BB&N. He then played college hockey at American International College and Umass Boston, where he was named to the ECAC All-Rookie team and became All-American his senior year.  Following college, Rob signed with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL. He spent the 2013-14 season with the ECHL's Reading Royals, and the 2014-15 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning ECHL affiliate, Florida Everblades. Rob has been training at Athletic Republic for the last 3 years and has great knowledge of our training and the hockey treadmill working on stride and mechanics.

Danielle Cassidy
Junior Acceleration Director

A Curry College grad of May 2014 Danielle Cassidy does it all at Athletic Republic. A health major with a concentration in athletics and a minor in biology, Danielle is a certified personal trainer and multi-sport athlete. To prepare for a career as a trainer, Danielle interned at a few different high schools during her college career, working with both high school and college strength and conditioning coaches. During breaks she worked at sports camps specializing in conditioning, form and technique. She also worked with youth aged 5-12 at Kidsports in Stoughton, helping young athletes develop proper conditioning habits and techniques to serve as the foundation of future athletic and fitness endeavors. Danielle is currently studying for her CSCS certification, widely regarded as the gold standard in the field of strength and conditioning. Upon receiving her bachelor's, she officially joined the staff in June 2014. Though she works primarily with AR's youth, middle school, high school, and college aged athletes, she can also be seen covering ARX and Mini Athlete classes, or helping with the business side of the company.

Gregg Bouchard
Sports Performance Coach

Gregg was a multisport athlete in high school and college. He played football and baseball at Bridgewater State and graduated with a B.S in Exercise Physiology in 2001. In 2001 he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and interned at Harvard University. At Harvard he helped implement strength and conditioning programs for all athletes ranging from football to hockey. In 2009 Gregg also volunteered at the University of Texas Basketball facility where he worked with many division one and professional athletes.In 2007 Gregg attended the Gray Institute in Adrian Michigan and completed their GIFT program. The GIFT program taught him the nuances of biomechanics to help his athletes stay healthy and on the playing field. Gregg has over 10 years of experience training athletes and adults and has been with Athletic Republic since October 2010.

Harrison Elias, CSCS
Sports Performance Coach

Harrison started with Athletic Republic as an athlete from Dover-Sherborn looking to prepare for his football career at Springfield back in 2010. He finished his Adventure Education Degree with a minor in Exercise Science and interned with Athletic Republic in the summer of 2016. Since interning he has obtained his CSCS and started working part time as a Strength Coach. He also took an internship position with Harvard Strength & Conditioning the Fall of 2016 to gain more knowledge in the field.
Ryan Garrigan
Sports Performance Coach

Ryan graduated from Bridgewater University with a degree in Exercise Science. He finished his internship with Athletic Republic over the Fall of 2015 and has been with us as a trainer since. Ryan ran the Westwood Summer of Speed program in 2016 and has been a valuable part of the team.
PJ Vande Rydt
Mass Elite / Consultant
His experience as both athlete and coach, as well as his commitment to sports excellence, proper athletic mechanics and training are the driving forces behind his career and Athletic Republic Norwood.In 2008, Van de Rydt opened Precision Speed & Strength, a training facility for athletes. PJ’s desire for a premium program led him to Athletic Republic because of their ­science-based research, protocols and proprietary equipment. Precision Speed & Strength became Athletic Republic Norwood in 2009, and is now the premier sports training facility in Eastern Massachusetts, training ­hundreds of athletes each year.  In April of 2016 he was proud to sell the ownership to long time head trainer Jason Sylvester.PJ was the Head Middle School Football Coach in Westwood for 5 years (38-6) and in 2014 moved up the street to run the Xaverian Middle School program and in the first two years has gone 15-1-1.  In addition to Xaverian he coaches his son’s football team the Dover-Sherborn Westwood Patriots.
